The former Museum im Toadkostn zu Giem housing the private folkloristic collection of Johann and Theresia Prassl which was founded in 1983 is being knocked down in 2008 and 2009 and will be rebuilt in a bigger form as the first open-air museum in the Styrian Volcanic Region which is situated in Trautmannsdorf. Over 1,500 objects from rural, handicrafts and religious life are exhibited in historic buildings from South Eastern Styria as a documentation of the daily life and customs of this region. A village blacksmith’s shop, chapel, exhibits showing coal mining and fruit processing as well as documents illustrating the history of both world wars and the Feldbach/Mühldorf prisoner-of-war camp complete the show.
